Youth Brigade On Tour In Canada!
BYO Records Recording Artists :
YOUTH BRIGADE
On Tour In Canada with The Bouncing Souls, Saint Alvia, and Off With Their Heads
Youth Brigade has announced the Canadian leg of their fall tour.  They will return to their native country with the Bouncing Souls, Saint Alvia, and Off With Their Heads in support of the upcoming Let Them Know: The Story Of Youth Brigade and BYO Records coming out on Youth Brigade members’ Mark and Shawn Stern’s own independent punk label, BYO Records on September 22, 2009.  Let Them Know: The Story of Youth Brigade and BYO Records is a beautifully packaged self-contained, triple-threat: a 90 minute documentary feature that chronicles their part in the Southern California punk rock scene along with a double LP audio compilation all contained inside a full color hardcover coffee table book. This boxed set celebrates the landmark of over 25 years for Youth Brigade, BYO Records and the Stern Brothers.
Youth Brigade formed at the end of summer 1980 amid the explosion of the punk scene in Southern California. The L.A. punk scene at that time had been detonated by the repressive culture of the post-70’s burnout. Amongst many of the bands that would one day become known as early pioneers of the hardcore punk rock scene, Youth Brigade has created a legend as one of the most powerful independent bands in the North America.  The history of Youth Brigade as well as the surrounding D.I.Y. punk community — a tight knit group of comrades across the world — is given in the full-length documentary movie included in the above mentioned boxed set. The movie has previously screened in Canada at this year’s NXNE Music and Film Festival to an eager hometown crowd.  The documentary is an ambitious undertaking as is it’s companions in the boxed set; a full color, 13 x 13 hard cover book and audio compilation featuring the best to have come from the punk scene (NOFX, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Lag Wagon,) and many of today’s up-and-coming acts.
Let Them Know is a history of punk rock in Southern California that bridges the early pioneers with punks huge breakthrough in 1994 to those still smashing things up in 2009 and beyond! It’s an engaging look through visual, audio and the written word at this often overlooked chapter in the rise of punk rock specific to Los Angeles that influenced the rise of what continues to be the epicenter. In short Let Them Know is a movie “Celebrating Over 25 Years of Punk Rock” . Screenings of Let Them Know are scheduled across Canada (dates /times TBA).
