The Bouncing Souls celebrate a 20 Year Anniversary ! 2009 has been an extremely busy year for New Jersey punk legends, The Bouncing Souls, as they continue the festivities celebrating their 20 year anniversary. Starting in January, the band and their label, Chunksaah Records, announced they’d release a brand new song to their fans on the first of every month (seven new tracks to date as of this week), released an amazing new video for March’s new song, “Airpoirt Security,” performed at this year’s SXSW Music Marathon, toured the States with good friends Dillinger 4, The Loved Ones, Black President, The AKAs and more, showed homage to Record Store Day with an in-store acoustic performance at Generations Records in New York City, flew to play Alaska for the first time where Mount Redoubt’s first eruption in 20 years (coincidence?) left the band stranded in Seattle for some four hours, and toured South America for the first time ever.Now, taking us into the second half of 2009, The Bouncing Souls are poised to take part in a Fall tour of Canada w/ Youth Brigade, Saint Alvia and Off With Their Heads, all in conjunction with their current series of new releases (available at their label’s website, Chunksaah.com, and streaming on the band’s Myspace page).

For the past 20 years, The Bouncing Souls have been considered by many to be one of the leading and greatest band’s in the post-Ramones / Misfits era of punk rock. Making a name for themselves with amazing albums such as The Good The Bad and The Argyle, Maniacal Laughter, Hopeless Romantic, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, Anchors Aweigh, and The Gold Record, and high profile tours with the likes of Alkaline Trio, Green Day, Strike Anywhere, Dropkick Murphy’s, Against Me, My Chemical Romance, Hot Water Music, Flogging Molly, Social Distortion, NOFX, Rancid, Youth Brigade, and many more, The Bouncing Souls are one of the most exciting and celebrated bands in the history of punk rock !

4 types of people in the music business

I believe there's 4 types of people in the music business. Type one is great at their job but a total drag to be around, we'll call this one " the Alligator", cause you respect it's power and ability to survive but you wouldn't want to get in bed with it. Type two is complete shit at their job but a total blast to be around, we'll call this one "the Chimpanzee", cause it'd be fun to hang out with one but it's never gonna� accomplish anything for you. Type three is complete shit at their job and about as fun to talk to as a rock, we'll call this one "the city rat" cause they're everywhere in the music biz. Type four is both great at their job and a complete pleasure to be around, we'll call this one "the polar bear", cause unfortunately they are almost extinct in the music biz. Melanie Kaye is a Polar Bear.

Melanie Kaye is awesome.

She has run the Fat Wreck Chords office in Canada for over ten years, and she would be running it for the next ten if the CD business was better. She has been a huge asset to this company in many ways and she will be greatly missed. I don't think that it is a coincidence that Fat Wreck Chords bands all do very well in Canada and that Melanie did promotion for them. All of our bands love working with her and many of them will continue to independently as will my band NOFX. Canada was the only country outside of the US to air the NOFX television program Backstage Passport and I believe the only reason this happened was because Melanie made it happen. She makes things happen. I have always trusted her to do a great job and she has never let me down. She can hold her alcohol pretty well to. That's all I got, sincerely
