A Wilhelm Scream On Tour In Canada !

Paper And Plastick Recording Artists :

A Wilhelm Scream

How does one gauge the success of a band pushing the envelope of a genre that receives little to no credit by the mainstream media?

In the case of A Wilhelm Scream, the answer is “Who cares?” – As a band playing punk rock for over a decade, original members Trevor Reilly, Nuno Pereira and Nick Angelini haven’t focused on success, image or whatever bandwagon a group can jump on to get their music into the ears of listeners: It’s the ideal of music from an honest place, playing to the kids who want to hear more than a simple love song, or want an opinion rammed down their throats.

Within this ongoing endeavor, A Wilhelm Scream has recruited the talents of Brian Robinson (bass) and Mike Supina (guitar); Two Great-Lakers who have strived to help develop the band into the most musically-diverse lineup they’ve had to date, touring all over the World in over 20 countries from Russia to Tasmania in support of their 2007 release “Career Suicide” (NitroRecords).

After spending a few months at home developing a follow-up self-titled EP, A Wilhelm Scream is back on the road to deliver punk rock that promises to cater to the kids who are fed up with “everything else”.

Sleep It Off Records Recording Artists

LESS THAN JAKE

Performing in Montreal and Toronto

It’s been a wild and crazy ride for Gainesville’s Less Than Jake, who first met at the University Of Florida over a decade and a half ago. But instead of kicking their feet up and resting on their laurels, the ever-busy quintet have been working hard on the next chapter of Less Than Jake. Successfully extricating themselves from their major label contract (even though they still owed one more record to the label), they started their own label, Sleep It Off Records, and now are in the driver’s seat. “After a decade and a half of being in the band, we are now our own bosses for real and the excitement of that can peel paint off the walls,” says drummer Vinnie.

“People have a preconceived notion that Less Than Jake is a ska/punk band, that we’re wacky and silly, and that may be a certain side of ourselves live, but there’s also another side and that’s a beautiful thing about our band – it’s multi-headed,” he says proudly. “We can be different things at different times; we can be socially relevant and we can still be musically relevant 16 years after being together, still progressing musically, not only as players, but as far as musical direction. We can jump outside the box of what people expect, and now that we’re in control, what you’ll be getting is Less Than Jake -unfiltered and over-amplified.”

Don’t miss Less Than Jake at their two exclusive Canadian appearances :

Saturday , November 21st  in Montreal at Le Medley

Sunday , November 22nd in Toronto at The Phoenix Theatre

The Mad Caddies On Tour In Canada !

Fat Wreck Chords Recording Artists

The Mad Caddies

The Mad Caddies On Tour In Canada !

The Mad Caddies stand alone in their latest musical achievement. Combining elements of rock and roots reggae that evokes memories of the Clash, the Police and Sublime, the record Keep It Going takes the listener on a musical journey from lively Jamaican dancehalls to the underground DIY music venues of America. Keep It Going, the band’s 5th full length record, May 1st, proved to be the definitive record of the Mad Caddies’ successful career. Grammy award winning producer, Wayne Jobson (No Doubt, Gregory Isaacs, Toots & The Maytals), was brought on to help produce the album, and reggae legend Duckie Simpson (Black Uhuru) joined the Mad Caddies to sing on a cover of Delroy Wilson’s reggae classic “Riding For a Fall”.

Hailing from the central coast of California, the mayhem-core ensemble known as the Mad Caddies came into existence in the summer of 1995. Late in 1996, having grown tired of the regular sun, sand, and surf routine, they opted to lock themselves in a barn where they could truly focus on their music. At this point in the story things could have gotten ugly. Luckily when the band reemerged from the ramshackle studio they had completed their debut album, Quality Soft Core. Punk rock pariah Fat Mike heard their music and wasted no time bringing the young upstarts aboard his label, Fat Wreck Chords.

The Mad Caddies’ talents reach far beyond the boundaries of ska and punk, enabling them to throw a musical curve ball into the mix without notice. Reggae, dixie, jazz, surf, rockabilly, country and swing are all styles in which the group is well versed and aren’t afraid to inject into their unique brand of rock. The members of the Mad Caddies are as diverse as the music they perform but their most notable member is lead vocalist Chuck. Despite his penchant for booze and all things smokable, Chuck’s amazing voice prevails and his crooning could make even Morrissey blush.

The band has toured the U.S., Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan countless times, including stints on ‘97, ‘98, ‘00, ‘03 Warped Tours and both the Euro and American Fat Tours of 2000. Between all this time on the road, the Mad Caddies have managed to release an EP, a live record, and three other full lengths on Fat: Just One More, Duck and Cover and the album that launched the sub-genre of “pirate-core”, Rock The Plank. Think about it, the lifestyle of the Mad Caddies consists of travelling around the country, making port in unfamiliar towns, causing trouble, imbibing spirits and random pillaging.

The Mad Caddies are getting ready to come back to Canada to end 2009 on a sweet note. This tour features Toronto’s own Fil Bucchino from Flashlight Brown on bass and as a special new addition Dustin Lanker from the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies  is adding his special touch on keyboards .

NASHVILLE PUSSY ON TOUR IN CANADA!

NASHVILLE PUSSY ON TOUR IN CANADA!

True rock n’ roll doesn’t require definition. It’s self-explanatory based on a gut feeling and the unconditional devotion to the musical genre. Nashville Pussy have celebrated their brand of genuine rock n’ roll for more than a decade, in classic style at times, surprising at others, but always earthy, raw and unadulterated. Band mastermind Blaine Cartwright (vocals, guitar), his wife Ruyter Suys (guitar), Karen Cuda (bass) and Jeremy Thompson (drums) spent three years working on their latest rock release, entitled From Hell To Texas, out on Steamhammer/SPV). Three years which saw the band hone their most impressive recording to date alongside the nonstop touring, from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Japan, and most recently almost a year straight with the Reverend Horton Heat, “We allowed ourselves this time to give the songs the chance to turn out as perfect as possible,” Cartwright explains. “We kept playing the new tracks at our rehearsal room until they really clicked. I feel they’re heavier and grittier than previous releases. The whole creative process took three long years, but the result has been worth the trouble.”

Their songs are mostly about fun and good times, but occasionally – as in the case of ‘Late Great USA’ – they also stick the finger into an open wound. “Although Blaine’s comical and satyrical themes mostly prevail on From Hell To Texas, there are two or three numbers which deal with more serious subjects. ‘Late Great USA’ is a political song, we simply had to vent our anger at certain grievances in this country.”

Like its predecessor, Get Some (2005), From Hell To Texas was produced by Daniel Rey. “We’ve known Daniel for years, he’s uber talented and a fantastic arranger,” Cartwright praises his producer. “Daniel works hard and likes the same music that we like. We’re simply a good team that gels perfectly in the studio.” Along with engineer/mixer Gordie Johnson, renowned guitar guru who is a producer in his own right, rounded out the team. But the best thing was: the whole album was recorded at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio in Texas on the same two-inch tape machine which Willie used to cut all his legendary albums from the mid-seventies,” Cartwright reveals, adding: “That machine sounds simply amazing, so natural, pure and unbelievably alive. We also got to meet Willie by chance while we were doing a photo shoot in his private ghost town, he was hanging with some buddies in his saloon and invited us in, he was truly one of the nicest and coolest people we have ever met.”

Nashville Pussy recorded a total of twelve new songs for From Hell To Texas. “At the end of the day, all four band members were very involved in the composition of these tracks,” Cartwright enthuses about his group’s efficient team spirit. “It’s turned into a real band album, the heaviest and catchiest we’ve recorded so far. We call it the Southern rock album that Alice Cooper never made. It’s our revenge record.” Canadian rock singer/guitarist Danko Jones can be heard on the track ‘I’m So High’

An impressive process based on a perfect foundation: Nashville Pussy’s new kick ass rock n’ roll album From Hell To Texas.

“Nashville Pussy have honed their art for more than 10 years now and “ From Hell To Texas” took more than three years to make, but wow it was worth the wait as this album covers all the bases. This is the band’s crowning glory and should not be missed!” (review from Power Play Magazine).

What people have said

Melanie Kaye is a shining example of someone who was born to spread the word!

I've enjoyed working with Melanie a great deal, and was very pleased with her efforts. It's always been very important to me that I work with people who love what they do, as those people always seem to get the best results. Melanie Kaye is a shining example of someone who was born to spread the word!

4 types of people in the music business

I believe there's 4 types of people in the music business. Type one is great at their job but a total drag to be around, we'll call this one " the Alligator", cause you respect it's power and ability to survive but you wouldn't want to get in bed with it. Type two is complete shit at their job but a total blast to be around, we'll call this one "the Chimpanzee", cause it'd be fun to hang out with one but it's never gonna accomplish anything for you. Type three is complete shit at their job and about as fun to talk to as a rock, we'll call this one "the city rat" cause they're everywhere in the music biz. Type four is both great at their job and a complete pleasure to be around, we'll call this one "the polar bear", cause unfortunately they are almost extinct in the music biz. Melanie Kaye is a Polar Bear.

Tom gabel: Against Me!

Melanie Kaye is awesome.

She has run the Fat Wreck Chords office in Canada for over ten years, and she would be running it for the next ten if the CD business was better. She has been a huge asset to this company in many ways and she will be greatly missed. I don't think that it is a coincidence that Fat Wreck Chords bands all do very well in Canada and that Melanie did promotion for them. All of our bands love working with her and many of them will continue to independently as will my band NOFX. Canada was the only country outside of the US to air the NOFX television program Backstage Passport and I believe the only reason this happened was because Melanie made it happen. She makes things happen. I have always trusted her to do a great job and she has never let me down. She can hold her alcohol pretty well to. That's all I got, sincerely

Fat Mike : Singer and Brains of NOFX
President of Fat Wreck Chords

I am very fortunate to have worked with Melanie Kaye.

She has been truly great in every aspect of the word. Consistently great at her job, whether it be publicity, promotion or simply being a mediator for myself or my band. Great as a professional, on top of every detail, no matter how small. And over the years she has become a great friend of mine. Contrary to appearances, our work environment can be very high stress and physically demanding and it is always a good experience working with someone like Melanie, who is friendly, positive and calming. Melanie is full of enthusiasm for her work and has been inspirational in even the most monotonous circumstances. All of these traits are infectious and a pleasure to be near. I hope to work with Melanie again.

Joey Cape : Lag Wagon

Melanie always comes through …

“From her days playing in bands to current gig work working for them, Melanie always comes through.”

-Ian Danzig : Publisher of Exclaim Magazine

Grade A publicist

“ I have known and worked with Melanie for quite a while. She is a grade A publicist. The difference between her and other publicists is that she obviously really cares about the music that she chooses to work with. She invests her passion for music into each project. She covers so many parts of the publicity machine that she actually does way more then most publicists. No need to hold her hand or give her direction, she knows what she is doing. Oh, and she is a great person who everybody loves!”

-Greg Werckman : IPECAC RECORDINGS

Melanie is very good at what she does, without being Hollywood/obnoxious …

“ Melanie is very good at what she does, without being Hollywood/obnoxious about it. The only bummer is that she isn't based down here, where she could have the whole States wired the way she has Canada. ”

Jello Biafra

highlights of our 8 year career! …

“ Working with Melanie Kaye has been one of the highlights of our 8 year career! Her enthusiasm and great vibe are contagious. She knows EVERYONE and has the best contacts..and everyone who knows her loves her as much as we do. She is full of creative ideas and makes doing great PR look effortless and fun, even though we know it's not!! WE LUV MELANIE!!!!”

-Spero : Northern State

I trust her like my own mother

“ Melanie is fucking awesome and I trust her like my own mother.”

-Hugo Mudie :The Sainte Catherines

Melanie is someone that we wish we had doing publicity for our band all over the world

“ Melanie is someone that we wish we had doing publicity for our band all over the world because she does such an excellent job for us each and every time we come to Canada. She's always been really excited and motivated about our band and it always shows. Always open to and looking for creative ways to help push our band forward. What more could we ask for. Melanie kicks ass !!! ”

-Jordan Burns : Strung Out

In 25 years of working together

“ Me the struggling musician, Melanie the Promoter/Manager/Publicist. I have never had a better professional and personal experience.”

-Dave Gregg : D.O.A. 79-87 /Groovaholics 85- /Real Mckenzies-05-

Melanie Kaye is more than just a publicist.

“ She is a someone who knows the business and the personal side of the art better than anyone that I have ever dealt with. She will take you to the top and at the same time take the music to heart and feel it! The hands on approach that Melanie provides is like no other that I have experienced. She is someone who truly understands the way to promote good music through her peers in the media outlets in a positive and interactive way.”

-Chuck Robertson : Mad Caddies

Melanie Kaye

“ is one of few people in the industry that is bullshit free, those folks are hard to find these days.”

-Mugison

I hired Melanie Kaye a few years ago,

“ to do publicity for Nuttsactor 5 and Fishbone, at the suggestion of NoFX front man and Fat Wreck Chords owner, Fat Mike. He had nothing but great things to say about her and my personal experience was a pleasure for sure. She was effective in every way, helpful beyond the call of duty and in general, Melanie is a wonderful person to get to know. I look forward to working with her again in the near future. ”

-Norwood Fisher/Fishbone: Founding Member/Bassist /Head Nutt In Charge: Nuttsactor 5 Multimedia/Inna Nuttshell Reekordingz

I've been working with Melanie Kaye …

“ on amazing projects since the beginning of 123PUNK, so for almost 10 years now! Without a doubt, some of the best ideas, interviews and adventures we have had on the show have come from her. It is always a pleasure to work with someone who is able to combine so naturally an easy going personality and a great sense of professionalism! ”

-Rej Laplanche : VJ MusiquePlus

Mel and I definitely dated in a past life.

That's why her promotions and publicity are in sync with my club, my magazine and my fantasies.
